Xinjiang Tianye’s 250,000 tons/year synthesis gas to ethylene glycol plant uses catalysts imported from Japan for the first batch of 50,000 tons/year catalyst in the first phase. The industrial operation data of the past four years show that the domestically produced catalysts of GaoChem have stable performance, high conversion rate and long service life, and have won the trust and praise of customers.

GaoChem (Jiangsu) Chemical New Materials Co., Ltd. is a professional catalyst production factory invested and established by Beijing XingGao Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. It is a synthetic catalyst owned by GaoChem Consortium. Gas-to-ethylene glycol technology (CTEG technology for short) provides catalyst support.

The designed production capacity of the factory is 3,000 tons/year, of which the design capacities of DMO synthesis catalyst and EG synthesis catalyst are 1,500 tons/year respectively. The DMO synthesis catalyst has passed the evaluation of Ube Kosan Co., Ltd., and its performance exceeds that of imported products. The catalyst has been sold back to Japan and is used stably in Ube Kosan’s production equipment.

The performance of the high-chemical domestic ethylene glycol catalyst was recognized

After the factory was put into commercial operation in early 2013, the DMO synthesis catalyst and EG synthesis catalyst products produced were continuously put into use in Xinjiang Tianye equipment.

As of October 2016, the single-furnace generation DMO synthesis catalyst has been used continuously for more than 35 months, with the temperature rising below 10°C and the selectivity maintained at 99%. The second-generation DMO synthesis catalyst was put into use in January 2016 and has been running continuously for 10 months. Its current performance is better than that of the first-generation catalyst.

The single-furnace EG synthesis catalyst has been used continuously for more than 16 months, with an operating temperature of 180~185℃, a selectivity of 98%~98.5%, and an expected operating life that is longer than that of other similar catalysts. More than 1.5 times.

High-performance, long-life chemical catalysts, in addition to stable production and convenient operation, their comprehensive costs continue to decrease with the extension of service life, which can bring benefits to owners to achieve reliable economic benefits. Each ton of high-chemical DMO synthesis catalyst can produce more than 8,000 tons of ethylene glycol, which is 2 to 4 times that of other similar catalysts. Each ton of high-chemical EG synthesis catalyst can produce more than 4,200 tons of ethylene glycol, which is twice that of other similar catalysts. According to current industrial operation data, devices using high-chemical complex CTEG technology and catalysts can control the catalyst cost per ton of ethylene glycol within 200 yuan.

High Chemistry has established a Catalyst Research Institute in Nantong, dedicated to improving catalyst performance and reducing production costs. Through several years of continuous research and development, new generations of ethylene glycol catalysts have been upgraded. After using the second-generation high-chemistry catalyst, with further improvement in performance and life, the comprehensive cost of catalyst consumed per ton of ethylene glycol is expected to be reduced to less than 150 yuan, laying a solid foundation for the ethylene glycol unit to improve product competitiveness. In addition, High Chemistry Nantong Catalyst Research Institute is researching and developing other coal chemical catalysts, aiming to introduce advanced process technology and advanced production concepts to give full play to its advantages.
