What are the charging and discharging principles and methods of lithium iron phosphate batteries_Industrial Additives

Charging and discharging principle of lithium iron phosphate battery

The charge and discharge reaction of lithium iron phosphate battery is carried out between the two phases of LiFePO4 and FePO4. During the charging process, LiFePO4 gradually breaks away from lithium ions to form FePO4. During the discharge process, lithium ions are embedded in FePO4 to form LiFePO4.

When the battery is charging, lithium ions migrate from the lithium iron phosphate crystal to the surface of the crystal. Under the use of electric field force, they enter the electrolyte, then pass through the separator, and then migrate to the surface of the graphite crystal through the electrolyte, and then are embedded in the graphite lattice. middle. At the same time, electrons flow to the aluminum foil collector of the positive electrode through the conductor, flow to the copper foil collector of the negative electrode of the battery through the tab, battery positive post, external circuit, negative post, and negative tab, and then flow to the graphite negative electrode through the conductor. , so that the charge on the negative electrode reaches balance. After the lithium ions are deintercalated from the lithium iron phosphate, the lithium iron phosphate is converted into a lithium iron phosphate ion battery.

When the battery is discharged, lithium ions are deintercalated from the graphite crystal, enter the electrolyte, then pass through the separator, migrate to the surface of the lithium iron phosphate crystal through the electrolyte, and then re-embedded into the lattice of the lithium iron phosphate. At the same time, electrons flow to the copper foil collector of the negative electrode through the conductor, flow to the aluminum foil collector of the positive electrode of the battery through the tab, the negative electrode post of the battery, the external power channel, the positive electrode post, and the positive tab, and then flow to the aluminum foil collector of the positive electrode through the conductor. Lithium iron phosphate positive electrode balances the charge of the positive electrode.

Charging method of lithium iron phosphate battery

Do not specifically discharge the lithium iron phosphate battery before charging. Improper discharge will damage the battery. When charging, try to charge slowly and reduce fast charging; the time should not exceed 24 hours.

Please use the charger from the original manufacturer or a reputable brand. For lithium iron phosphate batteries, use a special charger for lithium ion batteries and follow the instructions. Otherwise, the battery will be damaged or even dangerous.

The safe working voltage range of lithium batteries is 2.8~4.2V. Below or above this voltage range, the lithium ions in the battery become very unstable and even cause accidents.

Prevent charging at excessively high temperatures. If the lithium iron phosphate battery is used in an environment higher than the specified operating temperature, that is, above 35°C, the battery’s power will continue to decrease, that is, the battery’s power supply time will not be long. It will be as long as usual.
