Although more and more people are looking for natural products, efficacy is still the most important purchasing driver for most consumers. This means a focus must be placed on factors like performance and safety, while also adapting to the natural, responsible and, more recently, preference for clean beauty.
Although natural ingredients have been a major force in the market for many years, consumers are still often confused about what “natural” ingredients can achieve, their benefits and limitations. The situation is further complicated by misunderstandings about the quality of many non-vegetable ingredients, including silicones.
Hailey HaEun Sung, Formulation and Technical Chemist at Grant Industries, went on a personal tour to discover more about silicones and their place in key trends like eco-responsibility and “clean beauty.” Grant Industries continues to seek education on this topic and presented at this year’s Chemistry World Congress hosted by Personal Care Supplier Days in New York.
