What is the best water-based paint colorant for paint coloring?

What kind of water-based paint colorant is best for coloring paint?

There are too many manufacturers in the water-based paint paste market, and there are many and mixed additives in the paint paste formula. Some water-based paint paste suppliers add too much water, resulting in low pigment content. The quality of the pigment powder also greatly affects the color of the water-based paint paste and the paint formula. Engineers are faced with numerous water-based color paste products and currently use three methods to test and evaluate suitable water-based color pastes for paint coloring:
1. Use a fineness board to scrape the fineness. Usually in the water-based coatings, solvent-based coatings, and ink industries, fineness boards are widely used to detect the fineness of water-based color pastes.
(1) The fineness board should be carefully wiped clean with a soft wiping cloth before use.
(2) The scraper is in vertical contact with the surface of the polished plate;
(3) The angle between the observation line of sight and the plane of the light plate is 15 to 30 degrees. The paint fineness should be measured in parallel three times, and the test results should be taken as the arithmetic mean of the two similar readings. The error between the two readings should not be greater than the minimum graduation value of the instrument.

2. Comparison of tinting strength
The tinting strength test is to detect the tinting strength difference and hue difference of the color paste.
Weigh a certain number of grams of paint, stir and mix evenly at a ratio of 1-2 grams of color paste, and observe the film with a film applicator.
The film applicator can apply films of different thicknesses.
3. Finger research test
Add a certain amount of water-based color paste to the resin used in the paint, and apply the film on a glass plate or white cardboard. After the film is semi-dry, lightly grind it with your fingers until the paint film is almost dry to the touch. Observe and measure color changes in the finger study area and other areas. The purpose is to test the compatibility of the color paste. If the compatibility is poor, color difference will occur.
Using the above three methods, if the water-based color paste has good fineness, strong tinting power, and good compatibility in the finger grind test, then it can be used in the paint formula!
