Neodecanoic acid, Chinese alias: tert-decanoic acid; 2-ethyl-2,5-dimethylhexanoic acid; tert-carbonic acid; decacarbonic acid. Neodecanoic acid is a low viscosity aqueous liquid with light odor at room temperature, it is the key intermediate for processing and manufacturing various products, it has very good hydrolytic stability, thermal stability and chemical reagent stability. Neodecanoic acid has excellent solubility in non-polar compounds, making it useful in a wide range of applications.


Neodecanoic acid and its derivatives are important fine chemical products and basic raw materials, due to its unique structure and physicochemical properties, neodecanoic acid and its derivatives are widely used in coatings, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, metal processing extraction and many other industries with its excellent performance.
Neodecanoic acid itself can be used in the preparation of: ceramic bleed ink, metal processing aids, metal extractants, as well as lubricants and cosmetics.
The metal salts of neodecanoic acid (Fe, Co, Cr, Ti, Sb, Ni, etc.) are used in: ceramic bleed ink, radial tire adhesives, paint drying agents and PVC stabilizers.
Neodecanoic acid chloride is used in the following syntheses: peroxide initiators, pesticide intermediates and pharmaceutical intermediates.
Used as radial tire adhesives – Neodecanoic acid can be made into its cobalt salt, which is a highly active adhesion promoter for natural rubber, synthetic rubber or the adhesion of these rubbers to brass, zinc, bare copper or zinc wire cord, rope, metal plates.
Used as paint drying agent – Neodecanoic acid metal salt can accelerate the oxidation, polymerization and drying of paint film. Drying agent can reduce the activation energy of free radical generation, thus accelerating the resin molecules after the cross-linking reaction, to shorten the paint film drying time.


Used as metal extraction agent – China has abundant rare earth mines, generally only mining and crude extraction, and then exported at a low price, after finishing and then imported at a high price to use, the economy is very uneconomical. Neodecanoic acid can be used for the separation and refining of single component rare earth elements.
Used as a lubricant-Neodecanoic acid and derivatives have a low freezing point, good solubility, good oxidative and hydrolytic stability, show good low-temperature effect, and in a variety of solvents have good solubility properties. Its organic solvent solution has low viscosity, good lubricity, and at the same time, it has antirust property and reduces drag coefficient. Based on it, it can be formulated into automobile crankcase lubricants, various engine and brake lubricants, metal processing and chain lubricants.


Used as polymer peroxide initiator – Neodecanoic acid prepared peroxide initiator is more stable, can be used in various pH values of aqueous solutions, can still be used at low temperatures, for example, at less than 70 ℃, is still effective for the polymerization of vinyl chloride.
Used in the field of medicine and pesticide – Because neodecanoic acid has a highly branched structure, so he is more soluble than similar non-branched products, can be used for the production of drugs for the treatment of arthritis, tuberculosis, psoriasis, etc., used in the production of benzylpenicillin, cefazolin, etc., a variety of key raw materials for antibiotics are also neodecanoic acid derivatives; in pesticides, neodecanoic acid is also used in the defoliation of plants, cotton, soybeans, potatoes and other agricultural crops. In pesticide, neodecanoic acid can also be used for plant defoliation and as a herbicide for cotton, soybeans, oats, potatoes and other crops.
Used as catalysts and preservatives-silver neodecanoate can be used in the preparation of ethylene oxide catalysts, nickel neodecanoate can be used in the preparation of oxidation catalysts. Zinc and copper neodecanoate salts can be used as preservatives for wood, etc.
Used in electric power and electronic field-Silver neodecanoate can be used in the production of capacitor terminals, and also used in the manufacture of silicate superconductors; Lead neodecanoate and stannous can be used in the manufacture of circuit boards; Barium neodecanoate, Copper, and Yttrium salts can be used in the preparation of electric conductor foils and thin film superconductors.
