Amino(4-methoxyphenyl)acetic acid can be used as a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate. If amino(4-methoxyphenyl)acetic acid is inhaled, move the patient to fresh air; if skin contact occurs, take off contaminated clothing, rinse the skin thoroughly with soap and water, and seek medical attention if you feel uncomfortable; If eye contact occurs, separate eyelids, rinse with running water or saline, and seek medical attention immediately; if ingested, rinse mouth immediately, do not induce vomiting, and seek medical attention immediately. Advice to protect rescuers is as follows: Move the patient to a safe place, consult a doctor, and if conditions permit, please show this chemical safety data sheet to the doctor who comes to the scene.

Preparation[1]
Amino(4-methoxyphenyl)acetic acid was prepared as follows: Dissolve ketone (0.5 mmol) and HCOONH 4 (5 mmol) in MeOH (2 ml) in a spinner reaction tube using ammonium formate. The mixture was then degassed and stirred at 80°C under nitrogen for 10 minutes. Then the HCOOH/NEt3 azeotrope (0.5 ml) and the catalyst solution (1 ml) (prepared by dissolving 0.5 μmol of catalyst in 1 ml of MeOH) were introduced. The resulting mixture was stirred at 80°C for the indicated times. The reaction was quenched with water, basified with aqueous KOH and extracted with DCM. The solvent was then removed under vacuum.
The crude product was dissolved in ethanol (10 ml), and then 6N HCl solution (5 ml) was added. The mixture was refluxed for 6 hours. The ethanol was then removed under vacuum, and the resulting aqueous layer was washed with ethyl acetate to remove impurities. The aqueous layer was basified with KOH solution and extracted with DCM. The organic layers were combined and dried over sodium sulfate. After evaporation of the solvent under vacuum the final product amino(4-methoxyphenyl)acetic acid is obtained. Yield 88%.
