The specific steps are as follows Silane: Dissolve the appropriate 4-formylpiperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (2.00g, 9.38mmol, 1.0 equivalent) in MeCN (25mL), and add chlorine at room temperature 4-Chlorobenzyltriphenylphosphonium chloride (4.37g, 10.32mmol, 1.1 equiv).
