Usage amounts of organobismuth polyurethane catalysts in different applications

Organobismuth polyurethane catalysts can successfully cure room temperature or Heat to cure. It is very sensitive to the acid value of the catalyst system and can only function well under acidic conditions. When the pH of the system changes, its catalytic activity will be affected, and sometimes it becomes lower than the catalytic activity of lead, mercury and tin.

Organic bismuth, polyurethane catalyst, organic bismuth polyurethane catalyst

1.PU resin slurry: BiCAT 8118, BiCAT 8108 is recommended.

2. Polyurethane coating: It is recommended to use BiCAT Z, BiCAT 3228, BiCAT8 or BiCAT8118, 1-2 parts/polyol;

3. Polyurethane adhesive: It is recommended to use BiCAT 8 or higher bismuth content catalyst, 1-2 parts/polyol;

3. Polyurethane sealant : It is recommended to use BiCAT 8118 or BiCAT 8108. For every hundred parts of polyol, add 1-2 parts of catalyst;

4. Polyurethane elastomer: BiCAT3228 is recommended , or use BiCAT 8 and BiCAT Z together, where the amount of Zn can be controlled to be 1-10 times that of Bi, or use a catalyst with a higher bismuth content, and add 0.01 – 0.5% of metallic bismuth per 100 parts of polyol;

5. Polyurethane rigid foam: It is recommended to use BiCAT 8118 or a higher bismuth content catalyst, and add 2-3 parts of catalyst for every 100 parts of polyol;

6. Polyurethane soft foam: BiCAT 8106 is recommended.

1. Non-toxic, safe and environmentally friendly catalyst, which can replace lead and mercury catalysts and those that are being abolished by legislation Tin catalyst;

2. Bismuth compounds have better hydrolysis stability than tin compounds and reduce the selectivity of reaction with water. In aqueous PU dispersions , reduce the side reactions between water and NCO groups;

3. Promote the NCO-OH reaction and avoid NCO side reactions, especially in one-step systems. Reduce the generation of CO2;

4. In a one-component system, liberate the amine shielded by water instead of promoting the reaction between NCO and water;

5. The combination of bismuth and zinc has a synergistic effect, making the formulation and production more flexible, reducing energy consumption and increasing profits;

6. It can be used alone or as an auxiliary catalyst in combination with amines or other organic metal compounds.
