Our team consists of ten expert assessors who are trained daily to better translate their sensory perceptions into quantitative sensory information.

Evaluation is done by comparing to a benchmark to classify the product. If the goal is to identify alternatives, comparisons are made against a reference recipe that contains a benchmark.

As a result, every evaluator is able to perform precise, reproducible characterization of our esters and benchmarks.

At a more detailed level, each product will be evaluated in two phases based on clearly defined descriptors and protocols. During application, the criteria to be evaluated are initial perception, texture, melt, spreadability, roughness and penetration.

After application, evaluation includes smooth topcoat, greasy topcoat, tacky topcoat, glossy topcoat and residual film.

Each descriptor is evaluated on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 indicates that the analysis criterion is absent and 10 indicates that the criterion is present.

Our group specializes in glyceryl esters, which has allowed us to define the sensory characteristics of approximately 150 esters and approximately 15 benchmarks, including silicones, vegetable oils and other petroleum derivatives.
