The highly cross-linked silicone resin trimethylsiloxysilicate (also known as TMS or MQ) is used for its film-forming properties. It holds color pigments in place to enable long-term wear of color cosmetics and provides water resistance in sun protection formulas. INCI: Isododecane (and) trimethylsiloxysilicate is a mixture of 50% trimethylsiloxysilicate in isododecane. After the isododecane evaporates, the high molecular weight silicone resin forms a highly durable film on the skin. Trimethylsiloxysilicate forms an effective and long-lasting film, allowing sun protection formulas with long-lasting high SPF systems and wash-off resistance. It is easy to formulate in sunscreen formulations and helps create a variety of products with a unique skin feel in application.
