Is it better to use color paste or pigment powder for paint coloring?

The traditional method of coloring paint is to use pigment powder to be added directly to the paint. Some paint manufacturers simply make the pigment into a slurry and then color the paint. This will have a big drawback: the color of the paint will be unnatural and uneven. At the same time, due to the lack of good technology and craftsmanship, the pigment particles are relatively large, the tinting power is weak, and the color is inconsistent. Moreover, inferior pigment powder is harmful to human skin. There will be some impact on health. In contrast, water-based Paint paste is more suitable for color mixing with water-based paints. A good paint paste is a high-concentration pigment dispersion product. The main solvent is water. It is characterized by high color concentration, small color paste fineness, uniform coloring, strong compatibility, and no substantial impact on the stability of the paint system.

Although the preparation of water-based color paste is not complicated, there are a few points that need to be paid attention to. Because the surface tension of water is too large, water-based paint is more likely to generate bubbles than ordinary paint. Bubbles occur mainly because active molecules on the surface come into contact. These surface-active molecular layers are generally stably distributed in a dispersed gas-saturated form and will not be easily destroyed. If bubbles are introduced during the construction process, bubbles may easily occur on the surface of the rough substrate. These factors must be considered when making the color paste. When necessary, we need to add defoaming agents. <br /
